A full-size sofa usually runs 84 to 100 inches wide. That is too much for a lot of living rooms, apartments, dens and bonus rooms. An apartment-size sofa gives you real sofa comfort in a smaller footprint.
What size is an apartment-size sofa?
At Vaughn Outlet we call sofas from the low 70s up to about 81 inches wide apartment size. Some shoppers stretch that to 82 or 84 inches. For comparison, most loveseats run about 55 to 70 inches.
Tip: don't shop by the label. A big loveseat and an apartment sofa can fill the same wall. Shop by the inches you actually have.
How to measure before you shop
- The wall: measure the space the sofa will sit on, then leave at least a few inches on each side for an end table or walking room.
- Depth: most sofas are 36 to 40 inches deep. Leave room in front for a coffee table and legs.
- The way in: measure doorways, hallways and stair turns. Height and depth matter most for getting a sofa through a door.
Bring your measurements (or a phone photo of the room) and we will help you find what fits.
